Paweł Szypulski, Łukasz Czapski
Greetings from Auschwitz is a project that came about from a set of postcards chosen from a collection made over several years. Nearly all the cards in the selection were once in circulation, written and sent to families, friends and acquaintances. One of the central themes of Holocaust-related art is silence. And the question of what is appropriate is also a crucial one. The tourist postcards propose a radically different – chatty and inappropriate – narrative. Szypulski’s project discusses the social memory of the Holocaust, which is entirely different from the memory that is present in high art and scientific discourse.
