Hotel Oracle is a hotel without an address. As its name suggests, it is more part of the realm of myth than of everyday reality. It is a phantom building that appears in various parts of the world – it is made up of a hotel room in New York, a terrace in Paris, a wine cellar in Milan and a swimming pool in Los Angeles. During Photomonth, Hotel Oracle will appear in Krakow. To find it and see what lies within, one must follow the artist’s instructions.
Jason Fulford is a photographer and co-founder of J&L Books. He is a contributing editor at Blind Spot magazine, and frequent lecturer at universities. Monographs include Sunbird (2000), Crushed (2003), Raising Frogs For $$$ (2006), The Mushroom Collector (2010), and Hotel Oracle (2013). He is co-editor, with Gregory Halpern, of the forthcoming Aperture book The Photographer’s Playbook, and co-author of This Equals That,a forthcoming photobook for children.
